33. Taverne L'Espérance
Located a stone's throw from the busting boulevards and the Rue Neuve in a quiet side street, this hotel and bar has been recently restored. One of the bedrooms has retained its original Art Deco wood panelling, and its extraordinary Art Deco bar is a magical place to pause for refreshment. It was in 1930 that the architect Léon Jean Joseph Govaerts converted an eclectic-style building of 1874 into a hotel and bar in the high Art Deco style. The bar has retained most of its original furniture, including banquettes, planters, wood-panelling, light fittings and counter. It's a place where you'll feel bathed in the atmosphere of yesteryear! For your information, the Art Deco room will unfortunately be unavailable to the visits this year.
