Louis-Herman De Koninck, 1931-1932

Built between 1931 and 1932 by the modernist architect Louis-Herman De Koninck, the Villa Dotremont owes its name to its patron, Philippe Dotremont, then director of the Raffineries et Sucreries du Grand Pont in Hoegaarden.

A great lover of contemporary art, he wanted a home to match his aspirations.

The building features a sober facade in smooth concrete, punctuated by asymmetrically arranged metal-framed windows, and a semi-cylindrical glazed volume marking the entrance.

Inside, the staircase, with its tubular handrail running to the top floor, structures the entire space.

The Dotremont house has been listed since 1977.
