Victor Horta, 1905 - 1906

Opened in 1906, this building was designed as a shop for the wholesale draper Charles Waucquez by Victor Horta. The sober facade consists of alternating stone pillars and huge windows, while the interior is laid out around a central hall surrounded by galleries leading to a huge staircase. In addition to the shop, the building housed stockrooms and administrative offices. In 1986, it was converted for use as the Belgian Centre for Strip Cartoons.

The visit is accessible to people with reduced mobility. Wheelchair users can enter via the restaurant.
