Victor Horta, 1905–1906

Opened in 1906, the former premises of the textile wholesaler Charles Waucquez were designed by Victor Horta. The façade, which is fairly understated in style, alternates between stone pillars and large windows, whilst the interior is organised around a central hall flanked by galleries leading to a grand staircase. The building was designed to accommodate customers, house stock and provide offices for staff. In 1986, this space became the Belgian Comic Strip Centre.

The site is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility. Entry is via the restaurant.
