This Art Nouveau mansion, with its wide white stone façade, was built by Victor Horta between 1894 and 1897 for the engineer Camille Winssinger, a close associate of Ernest Solvay. It notably featured a winter garden and a vast, light-filled stairwell, the walls of which were painted with lush vegetation. Between 1927 and 1929, the façade and interior underwent major alterations following the conversion of the mansion into a block of flats.
In 1946, the architect Henri Jacobs (Jr) built a large annexe in place of the garden to serve as offices for the insurance company Le Lion Belge. Fascinated by the work of Victor Horta, the current owner has restored the building to its former glory with the help of Barbara Van der Wee, an architect specialising in the Art Nouveau master, and has recreated the winter garden and part of the original garden.

Built at the request of Bernard Louis François Beeckman, the Roosenboom House was designed in 1900 by the architect of the same name. Topped on the top floor by a sgraffito by the painter and decorator Privat Livemont, its façade—which features ironwork whose motifs are repeated in the doormat holder and letterbox—is marked on the first floor by a magnificent curved bow window. Occupied by a family since September 2024, following extensive restoration, this Art Nouveau masterpiece has now regained its original layout, including access to a ‘car storage area’ as originally planned by the client. The meticulous restoration of the interior décor, now nearing completion, will allow you to rediscover the house in all its splendour during this year’s BANAD.

Victor Horta built this Art Nouveau townhouse, with its wide white-stone façade, between 1894 and 1897 for the engineer Camille Winssinger, a close associate of Ernest Solvay. Among other features, it included a conservatory and a large, light-filled staircase, with walls painted with lush plant motifs. Between 1927 and 1929, the house was converted into a block of flats, and both the façade and the interior underwent a transformation.
In 1946, architect Henri Jacobs (Jr.) built a large annexe on the site of the garden to serve as the offices of the insurance company ‘Le Lion Belge’.
The current owner, a great admirer of Victor Horta’s work, has restored the building to its former glory with the assistance of architect Barbara Van der Wee, who specialises in Horta’s work, and has returned the garden to its original purpose.

The Roosenboom House was built at the request of the industrialist Bernard Louis François Beeckman and is now named after the architect who designed it in 1900. The façade is embellished with ironwork, the motifs of which are repeated in the letterbox and the scraper. On the top floor, the façade is crowned by a sgraffito by the painter and decorator Privat Livemont, whilst at first-floor level there is a magnificent arched bay window. Following an extensive renovation, the house has been in use as a family home since September 2024. The layout has now been fully restored to its original state, complete with access to a ‘carport’, just as the client had envisaged. Thanks to a meticulous restoration, which is currently being finalised, you can once again explore the interior to the full during this edition of BANAD.
