François Malfait, 1923–1927

Designed in 1923 by the architect François Malfait, the school complex is notable for its character, which is both functional and monumental, and is representative of the Art Deco style of the early interwar period.

Built on a hillside between Rue des Minimes and Place Poelaert, the building blends in with the surrounding heights to preserve the panoramic view of the city.

École Moyenne A is a municipal school for boys founded in 1851 which, after several relocations, moved to its current site in 1927, on the site of the former Minimes convent. École Moyenne A evolved into a secondary school in 1941 and was renamed Robert Catteau a few years later.
