Victor Horta, 1898–1901

In 1898, the architect Victor Horta purchased two plots on Rue Américaine in Saint-Gilles to build his private home and studio. The building was completed in three years. It showcases the architect’s genius through its curved lines, use of light and innovative materials. In 1969, the Horta Museum was established and this intimate residence was opened to the public.

Since last year, the Horta Museum has been undergoing a number of restoration projects. The special guided tour on Saturday 21 March invites you to discover the museum from a different perspective, immersing you in the work of the architects, craftspeople and restorers who are dedicated to its preservation. You will discover the techniques and expertise employed to restore this remarkable heritage site.

Please note that the tour focuses exclusively on the restoration work and does not cover the entire museum.
