29. Van Buuren Museum and Gardens

Completed in 1928, Alice and David van Buuren’s house features an exterior architecture typical of the Amsterdam School, whilst the interior décor forms a unique Art Deco ensemble in which the furniture, carpets, stained-glass windows, sculptures, master paintings and decorative objects have remained in their original places. The gardens, which include a maze, were laid out in stages by the landscape architects Jules Buyssens and René Pechère. Their recent restoration was recognised with the prestigious Europa Nostra Award. The admission ticket includes a guided tour of the house and gardens.
