Paul Cauchie, 1904

This house and studio, built in 1905 by and for Paul Cauchie, is one of the most original examples of Brussels Art Nouveau. Almost the entire façade and some of the interior walls are covered in sgraffito. Threatened with demolition, the house was listed in 1975 and restored thanks to its current owners. The restoration of the sgraffito, at a time when people were no longer very familiar with this technique, set a benchmark.
