Who is it for?

This tour is specifically aimed at people on the autism spectrum. Supporters are also welcome. The tours are open to people aged 16 and over.

What?

The Hôtel van Eetvelde is one of Victor Horta’s masterpieces, built between 1895 and 1897 for Edmond van Eetvelde, an adviser to King Leopold II and Secretary-General of the Independent State of the Congo, which was then the King’s private property. The building is centred around a light well adorned with a splendid glass roof featuring a delicate metal framework. Having been extended on several occasions, this mansion and its extensions epitomise the evolution of Victor Horta’s style.

How is the tour adapted for people with autism?

The tour takes place at a very quiet time of day and visitor flow is organised to ensure there is no disruptive interaction with other groups. There will be no audio or video recordings to be heard or seen during the tour. The tour is led by a qualified guide with experience in supporting people with autism. No later than one week before the tour begins, participants will also receive a detailed script to help them prepare for the tour at their own pace.
